A Message from the Acting Executive Director

Hello to all our extended Capilano Community Services Society clients, volunteers and community partners.

We have paused our regular programming for the time being and are now focussing on connecting with our clients through phone check-ins and by using social media and digital platforms.

Seniors’ Hub Programs

For our Seniors’ Hub members, our staff will be in touch with all of you by phone. However, if you haven’t heard from Melanie or Riba yet, and you have questions or immediate needs – or want ideas of how to keep busy, please call the office at 604-988-7115, from 9am to 4pm. We have issued a Senior's Hub Safety Policy outlining our protocols to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection.

We have also published a COVID-19 issue (PDF) of the Seniors' Hub Spokes newsletter. You can reach Melanie Macauley, Seniors’ Hub Coordinator on her cell phone at: 604-315-5494. As always, we are here to help!

Youth Programs

For parents and youth – please contact our Youth Outreach Workers (YOWs) to learn about ideas for interactive, fun and educational activities. We have issued a Youth Programs Safety Policy outlining our protocols to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection.

Youth can join one of our video conferences, webinars, or connect through social media. Please feel free to share ideas on how you are keeping positive and filling your time-to help us adapt to our new situation.

Red Cross Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP)

Our HELP program has been deemed an essential service by the Red Cross and therefore remains OPEN at our office location: Mondays and Fridays from 9am to 1pm; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 4pm.

Clients of this program are requested to line up outside the building and will be greeted by a volunteer (in keeping with physical distancing protocols). As we may be required to change our hours of operation depending on the requirements of local health authorities, it's best to call us first before coming to our office.

We’re Always Here For You!

At Capilano Community Services Society, we are always here for you – even though it’s looking a little different temporarily. We will get through this together! And, when health authorities advise that we can once again connect in-person, our Seniors’ Hub and Youth Outreach Workers will be here to seamlessly pick up where we left off with our programs – from youth out-trips and lunch programs to our seniors' grocery shopping mall trips, and socials teas made by our wonderful volunteers – hold on to those thoughts and stay positive, stay safe and keep washing those hands!
