Youth Outreach in Schools

Our Youth Outreach Workers hold regular school office hours, host weekly lunch-and-learn groups, and participate in a variety of school events and activities. We also have information, resources and tools available on youth-related topics and trending issues.

Anyone can refer a youth to see a Youth Outreach Worker, including parents, teachers, health and social service agencies, and the youth themselves.  Students can meet a Youth Outreach Worker at the school, or in the community.

After School Programs and Youth Out-trips

Our child-centred programs for 10 to 12-year-olds (Grade 6 and 7) provide a safe, structured, caring environment, with Youth Outreach Workers providing personalized attention and support. Participants in these programs have the opportunity to explore activities that are innovative, educational and fun. This programming provides exposure to new ideas, concepts, people and places that encompass a broad range of activities such as art, music, science, computing, and more.

Our programming combines on-site games and activities along with inspiring out-trips, all of which integrate social-emotional learning concepts, tools and strategies. These programs are designed so that children can derive a sense of accomplishment and achieve their full potential. Our goal is to provide programming that fosters the development of happy, healthy, resilient children and youth.

Our programs are offered after school, on Pro-D days and during winter, spring and summer school breaks.

Youth Outreach in the Community

Throughout the year, our Youth Outreach Workers participate as representatives, ambassadors and volunteers, at numerous community activities and events for youth, across the North Shore. Some of these activities include:

  • Civic Youth Award Nominations offered by the District and City of North Vancouver

  • Youth Week and CityFest: an annual event held in North Vancouver, the first week of May

One-to-One Support

Our Youth Outreach Workers offer one-to-one support by listening and advocating for youth in need. They are able to assist with issues including trouble at school, anger management, self-esteem, family and peer relationship difficulties. Youth Outreach Workers can also assist young people and parents to access programs and services at other community agencies. Appointments can be made directly with our Youth Outreach Workers at various locations in North Vancouver.
