Family & Children’s Program
Playgroup Volunteer
An energetic volunteer is needed to support staff and interact with families & children (newborn to 5 years) at various on-site Playgroups. Duties range from program set up/clean up, welcoming, chatting with families & children, assisting with play activities. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, at Lions Gate Community Recreation Centre.
Youth Program
Sports/Games Volunteer
An energetic volunteer is needed to support staff to engage local youth ages 12 to 16 years of age, for drop-in basketball and badminton games, in a safe, inclusive, healthy, and welcoming environment. The focus is on fun and participation. Duties include equipment setup and tear down. Mondays 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the gym at Lions Gate Community Recreation Centre.
Seniors Program
My Lions Gate BREAK (MLGB)
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate volunteer to support our My Lions Gate BREAK program. This is a meaningful volunteer opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, values inclusion, and is comfortable supporting individuals with mild to moderate dementia. The MLGB Volunteer will work alongside the MLGB Program staff team in maintaining a respectful and supportive environment.

Medical Ride Driver Volunteer Position
We are looking for caring and dependable volunteers to serve as Medical Ride Drivers, helping seniors get to and from medical appointments.
Using your own vehicle, you will accompany seniors to medical appointments, providing transportation for older adults attending medical appointments on the North Shore. Many face mobility, vision, or hearing challenges and rely heavily on these services to remain healthy, independent, and able to participate in the community.
This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys one-on-one connections, driving, and making a real difference in someone’s life. The time commitment is typically two to four hours a month, based on your availability and we ask that you commit to providing at least one medical ride per month.

Kitchen Volunteers
We are looking for friendly and reliable Kitchen Volunteers to assist with food preparation and serving of food during our nutrition programs for seniors.
Kitchen Volunteers play an important role in creating a warm and welcoming environment, while ensuring that food is prepared and served safely. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys cooking in a friendly environment and helping seniors feel less isolated and alone.

Office Volunteer
An organized volunteer is needed to help with various clerical duties in the Seniors’ Hub office. Duties include filing, assisting with newsletter mailout and distribution, helping with program reminder phone calls, photocopying and other standard office tasks. This opportunity is on an as-needed basis – once or twice a month for 2 to 3 hours.
Red Cross Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP)
Client Services Volunteer
The Red Cross Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP) offers the North Shore community a short-term loan of mobility and personal care aids to people of all ages who are recovering from surgery, illness, or injury. An efficient Client Services Volunteer is needed to provide administrative support like answering the phone and coordinating health equipment loans and returns, at Lions Gate Community Recreation Centre. Good verbal and written English language skills are required. Various 3 to 4-hour weekday shifts are available – mornings or afternoons. Full training is provided with a minimum 6-month commitment.
