“Ramadan mubarak” to all our Moslem friends celebrating Ramadan right now (this year from Wednesday, March 22 - Friday, April 21). Here is a link that gives information about Ramadan for those who don’t know much about it.
Here we go with this trivia quiz to see how much you know about Ramadan. Even if you don’t know the answers you will definitely learn something about this festival currently being observed by a quarter of the world’s population (more than1.8 billion people).
Let’s get some exercise with this program to music from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. While this doesn’t totally fit into our theme for the day of Ramadan, it is something that you may be able to do at some point during the day.
You may want to try some of these wonderful and easy baked Iftar Ramadan Recipes. I know that I want to try some of these.
The above recipes seem tame compared to the Muslim Chinese street food in this video. I have to admit that I’m not sure I would have tried the last item featured, but maybe yes to the others!
As travel was a kind of focus for the last video, you may enjoy this visit to some of the most populous Muslim Countries.
This is also a great video if you want to travel to Turkey during Ramadan (and the food looks delicious).
Let’s end our day today with this PBS documentary highlighting the seven wonders of the Muslim world. Whether we are Muslim or not, one of the great things about Canada is respect for diversity and I for one am grateful that our country celebrates and embraces differences of race, culture and religion.
I hope you had a great day.
Stay safe and I hope you check back in next week - Monday, April 3.
