Lions Gate Virtual Views, February 27, 2023

Welcome to Lions Gate Virtual Views. We are glad that you can escape with us on these weekly virtual journeys!

Please email Melanie with any feedback or suggestions for future program content. Enjoy!

Why don’t we change it up this morning by getting our brains going before our bodies? I found this great quiz that tests how well we were paying attention to world events in 2022. Don’t worry if you miss some of these; we all took ‘news holidays’ periodically the last several years. Good luck.

Let’s get our bodies moving with this 20-minute full-body workout with Silver Sneakers.

I thought you might talk, think about or make a plan on how to protect yourself from a scam or fraud. Unfortunately, these are becoming increasingly common and there have been at least three occasions when I have been very close to falling for them and thereby handing over either money or personal information to unscrupulous individuals who may try to get more from me or share my information with other scammers. It is very important that we protect ourselves and our financial future. While this video is about US scams, I think it is still a good one to share.

After you’ve watched that video, go here to the RCMP website to familiarise yourself with common scams. Remember the saying “when in doubt, check it out.” Don’t feel rushed or pressured to provide information or press a button. You can just hang up (or not open an email) and then either call your bank, the non-emergency police line or a friend or family member to talk it through.

It appears that at the moment I’m in a safety theme but because of the recent snow dump and the on-again/off-again winter weather. So I feel compelled to share this walking safely in winter weather safety video.

Please stay safe while you are walking ‘virtually’ this 4 km trek around Amsterdam.

Laughter is so important, and while some of us have not travelled recently, this is a great way to explain the safety features of air travel. I think this might be Australian or New Zealand Airlines but either way it is a great way to start a plane trip.

Let’s end our day today with this lovely movie, Treasures of the Snow. Perhaps in a couple of weeks (fingers crossed) we will be fully into spring mode.

I hope you had a great day.

Please send us your feedback. It will help us build a better program for YOU.

Stay safe and I hope you check back in next week - Monday, March 6.
