Lions Gate Virtual Views - November 18, 2020
Welcome to Lions Gate Virtual Views. We hope that you can escape with us on these weekly virtual journeys!
Please email Melanie with any feedback or suggestions for future program content. Enjoy!
Let’s start by giving your brain some exercise with an easy, fillable crossword puzzle. You will see if you get an incorrect answer that the letters will show up as red. Good luck.
How did you do with the brain exercise? Now, how about getting our bodies moving? Here is a 10-minute indoor walking workout for seniors:
If you need a warm-up video, here’s a standing warm-up routine for seniors:
Great job with getting your brain and body moving. Reflect on your favourite ways to do this. For your brain, do you like Suduko, crosswords, reading, learning a new language or something else? For your body, do you enjoy walking, swimming, dancing, Tai Chi, yoga, gardening or something else?
Dance is an amazing form of exercise. Let’s look at some amazingly graceful professional dancers. The first is the Blackpool 2010 Ballroom Dance Pro Final, waltzing:
The second is the UK Open - Professional Ballroom 2017, tango:
The third is the 2019 World Standard Vilnius, quickstep:
Finally (for now) here is a video of the 2015 European Standard Formation competition. There other professional dance competition videos on YouTube so get searching!
Every day needs some humour. While we all find different things funny, I thought I would give this one a go. I hope you at least get a chuckle from I Love Lucy and her dance challenge. (If you like I Love Lucy just keep watching and more sketches will come up.)
Let’s end the day with some relaxing music – the photos in this video are lovely:
Enjoy your evening and please take care of yourself and each other.
See you next Wednesday, Nov. 25.
