Lions Gate Virtual Views - March 2, 2022

Welcome to Lions Gate Virtual Views. We are glad that you can escape with us on these weekly virtual journeys!

Please email Melanie with any feedback or suggestions for future program content. Enjoy!

Let’s get some exercise - and then stay tuned for an Olympic runner who races a dolphin. First here’s your exercise, a workout to music from the 1950s and 1960s. Make sure you only do what feels good, and get some water after your workout.

As promised, here is Olympic Runner Nick Symmonds racing a dolphin.

Now that we’ve gotten our physical exercise, let’s get our brain cells firing with this. (You can pause the video if you want more time to consider your answer.)

You might consider your dinner options with a great video to give you some ideas for simple, healthy meals:

While winter is almost over, the 2022 Iditarod Dog Sled Race starts in downtown Anchorage Alaska on March 5, 2022. I have driven a dogsled a couple of times (very short distances - a couple of hundred metres) so I can imagine this race and admire the races and the care they take of their dogs.

They say that laughter is the best medicine and I for one believe it. Let’s watch a couple of videos with more information about this form of ‘therapy’ (as well as trying it for yourself). Here are Phillip and Holly (TV talk show hosts) trying out laughter yoga.

Here is a video that demonstrates and explains how laughter exercises reduce stress (which I probably should have found at the beginning of our journey through this pandemic). Hopefully, we are getting close to being able to connect with one another in person.

Let’s end the day with a concert. Before all the current social distancing measures were put in place, Maestro Otto Tausk and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra got together in an empty Orpheum Theatre to play Beethoven's 5th Symphony as a celebration of the 250th anniversary of the genius’ birth. Enjoy this from the comfort of your own home.

If you want more, here are some Beethoven highlights:

I hope that you had a good day.

Please send us your feedback. It will help us build a better program for YOU.

Stay safe and I hope you check back in next week - Wednesday, March 9.
