At Capilano Community Services Society (CCSS), Seniors’ Hub is where you can find all of our seniors programming. These programs and services help seniors maintain their social networks, make new friends, remain connected to their community, foster a sense of belonging, increase well-being and enhance resiliency. And last but certainly not least, when you join a Seniors’ Hub program, you can always be assured of a good time with lots of fun and laughter.
Our Seniors’ Hub is operated by a small team of dedicated staff and a large core group of carefully screened and trained volunteers, many of whom are seniors themselves. These individuals are committed to promoting independence and enriching the lives of seniors who wish to remain in their own homes.
For more information on our current programs, please view our Seniors’ Hub calendar, which has full descriptions with dates and times, or phone to request a program list. More information can also be found in our Spokes newsletter.
At CCSS we are committed to minimizing potential barriers to participation. We understand that many seniors are on fixed incomes and therefore, our programs are offered at low or no cost. Additionally, experience has shown that about 90 percent of participating seniors have mobility or health issues that restrict their ability to use public transportation, including HandyDart. To mitigate this potential barrier, Seniors’ Hub programs include door-to-door transportation. The majority of transportation for events and programs is provided by our 15-seat Hub Bus, driven by trained volunteers.
Donations are gratefully accepted to help offset program costs, and we provide tax receipts for amounts over $10.
If you would like further information on participating in Seniors’ Hub activities, or for those wishing to become a program volunteer, please contact Melanie at 604-988-7115 ext 29 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
