New! Family and Children’s Program
The Capilano Community Services Society (CCSS) new Family and Children’s Program includes low-cost and no-cost activities and support services for families of children ages newborn to 5 years old. We also offer parenting support workshops led by knowledgeable facilitators and provide referrals and resources to other community supports. Programs for children in middle years (ages 6-11 years old) are in development. Send us your email address to be notified of new program offerings.
Early Years Program
We welcome children ages newborn to 5 years. Our programming is intended for the child/ren and their parent/guardian to be in attendance and learning together. We do not provide childcare or daycare programs.
Our drop-in programs support all areas of early childhood development with a focus on social-emotional learning. Our program is play-based and strength-based and offers structured and unstructured play that includes activities such as songs and storytime, music, arts & crafts, imaginary play, and gross motor skills practice.
Philosophy
Our programs provide opportunities for children and adults to come together in relationship with each other to learn and connect in a welcoming, inclusive and culturally safe environment. Our community-responsive programming seeks to support healthy childhood development, increase parenting skills and knowledge, and strengthen social connections so that families can thrive. Our indoor spaces are designed to support children with diverse abilities and needs.
